Favorite Drum Intros

Sometimes you just want to start your song out with a bang. Literally.  I have always appreciated how important the drummer is to the music, even if they take a backseat.  Here are a couple of my favorite times when for at least a few bars, they are the centre of everything....

Demi Lovato got her start in my house via her early appearances on the Barney The Dinosaur videos.  Since then, I knew very little about her until she became a judge on X Factor. Or so I thought.  I usually agreed with her the most, and she had intelligent advice for the contestants. I decided to check out her musical background to hear some of her songs.  What I discovered was that I already knew them.

The Milli Vanilli Formula

Milli Vanilli was a very popular pop duo formed in 1988, and won the Best New Artist Grammy in 1990.  It turned out the faces of Milli Vanilli were just that: faces.  These performers had the look, but they spent their whole career lip syncing to the voices of others and passed them off as their own.  Unfortunately for them, they were caught when the cd skipped at one of their concerts.  For more information, do your own research.  I'm not going to spoon feed you.  I am going to ask this: Was this an isolated incident?

Rant on Tipping

The topic of tipping has been talked about on the radio a great deal.  However, the focus they have is why we tip certain professions and not others.  This is a very good question, and leads me to believe that the purpose of tipping has been lost completely. The tip has become many things, from a way for people with low paying jobs to increase their income, to a means of rating celebrities.  Why is this no longer a simple reward for a job well done?  I guess I'm going to make some people very unhappy here, but I'm just going to start in on it.
